Exceptional Sharps Model 1874 Long Range Single Shot Breechloading Rifle
Serial no. 156339, .44 caliber, 34-inch octagonal barrel with vacant front sight and
tang-mounted long range Vernier folding peep sight. Barrel address reading: Sharps Rifle
Co. Bridgeport, Conn. Case-hardened breechblock, hammer, frame, lever and buttplate.
Varnished walnut stocks. Sold together with Sharps factory letter stating rifle was
shipped to J.P. Moore & Sons of New York City on February 21, 1876; caliber .44 with
34-inch barrel.
Condition: Excellent to mint. Retaining approximately 99-100% finish
with slight fading to case-hardened buttplate. Front sight missing. Vibrant case-hardening
remaining on breechblock and frame. Wood near mint. An exceptional example.
