Rare John Miles Large State of Virginia Contract Military Flintlock Pistol
.64 caliber smoothbore, 10-inch round barrel marked on top MILES PHILAD 4 REG VIRGA;
lock with pointed terminus marked .MILES PHILA.; brass mountings including sideplate;
walnut stock with brass band near tip; hickory ramrod; R stamped at front of butt of
stock.
Condition: Very good. Brown and gray patina to steel, pitting and
wear; mechanism needs repair, hammer will not stay at full or half cock. Stock with old
cleaning, light mars; some chipping, primarily at right of upper tang at barrel breech, at
buttcap and by triggerguard strap.
Note: Rare, perhaps unique, with Virginia regimental marking.
