Scarce U.S. Hall-North Model 1833 Breechloading Percussion Carbine Made in 1839
Unserialized. .52 caliber, 26 3/16-inch barrel with open sights and two steel bands. 25
1/4-inch retractable ramrod-bayonet. Browned finish. Breech with NWP inspector markings.
Case-hardened breechblock marked: U.S/S.North/Midltn/Conn./1839. Spur-type breechblock
release. Standard walnut stock. Triggerguard tang with two finger grooves and hinged
patchbox.
Condition: Fine to excellent for this rare model. Retaining
approximately 80-85% finish with light wear to buttplate and relief edges. Stock with
several repaired cracks and numerous minor dents and blemishes. Action good.
Note: Approximately 6,135 of this model were manufactured. The U.S. 2nd Dragoons were
armed with these for their initial service in Florida. [see Flayderman, 9A-271]
