U.S. Harpers Ferry Model 1803, Second Type Flintlock Rifle
.60 caliber, 36-inch part round/part octagon browned barrel with open sights.
Seven-groove rifling. Steel under-rib. Marked at breech: US [within oval]/eaglehead over P
[within oval]. Lock with small eagle over US/Harpers/Ferry/1819. Standard walnut stock
with brass furniture and patchbox. Stock with N.E.B. inspector cartouche and "V"
marking opposite lock. C.F.C. cartouche behind lower tang. Steel ramrod.
Condition: Fine to excellent for this model. All original with metal
showing brown patina and minor pitting. Triggerguard lightly sprung from wood. Excellent
wood with only minor wear and marks in evidence.
