U.S. Martially Marked Harpers Ferry Model 1805 Flintlock Pistol, Serial Number 1687,
Dated 1808
.54 caliber smoothbore, 10 1/8-inch round barrel; lock with American eagle and shield
over US forward of hammer; HARPERS/FERRY/1808 at tail of lock; barrel breech with number
1687 and US and eagle head over P within sunken ovals; walnut stock with inspector
markings V over JS lightly visible; brass mounts; hickory ramrod with brass tip. MB
stamped on stock near buttcap.
Condition: Very good. Gray and brown patina; pitting; replacement
hammer screw and screw. Old revarnished stock with nicks, wear; crack to right of trigger
and at main sideplate screw; light bends to fore-end brass band.
