Rare U.S. Harpers Ferry Model 1841 "Mississippi" Percussion Rifle, Converted
To Merrill Breechloading System
.54 caliber, 33-inch round browned barrel with two brass bands and three-position
folding-leaf military sights. Rare conversion to case-hardened Merrill breechloading
system. Breech strap with Merrill markings. Case-hardened hammer and lock mechanism
marked: [spread eagle]/U.S./Harpers/Ferry/1848. Standard walnut stock with crisp JHK
inspector cartouche. Brass furniture and patchbox. WJ markings on patchbox, tang and
bottom of stock. Steel ramrod. Sling mounts.
Condition: Excellent to mint. Barrel retaining nearly 100% browned
finish. 100% lightly faded case colors still remain on lock and breech mechanism. Wood is
also near mint. Perhaps the finest 1841 Mississippi rifle in existence.
