Deluxe and Rare Engraved Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Short Rifle with Set

Serial no. 170647A, .44-40, 20-inch octagonal barrel, scroll engraved frame, mortise
cover, carrier block, fore-end and buttplate; whitetail deer panel scene on left
sideplate; set trigger; open sporting sights; checkered and varnished select walnut
stocks; sling stud on butt.
Condition: Very good. Traces blue on frame; balance age brown and
gray. Some spots pitting on various parts. Deluxe stocks with minor nicks, mars and wear.
Shipped in January 1885; factory record indicates "case-hardened" but
examination of frame reveals blued finish. With factory letter. Butt stock later
replacement. Assembly numbers have been changed to match lower tang. Lower tang has been
changed. Barrel shortened to 20-inches.
