"COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN 14676. Cal. 45 ACP. Very early 1911 (1912) with replacement bbl. It has orig thin front sight with a replacement, altered flat top rear sight made to resemble the orig rnd top. Frame has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left front side & "WGP" (Maj. Walter G. Penfield) inspector initials above magazine release. Last date on slide is "1911" and right side is marked "MODEL 1911 U.S. ARMY". Mounted with diamond checkered walnut grips. Right side grip appears to be an orig equipment replacement from a Springfield 1911. It has short spur hammer with short grip safety & long trigger with orig 2-tone lanyard loop magazine. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Slide retains 94-95% strong orig factory blue with sharp edge wear & a few light nicks on left side with some scattered pin prick pitting. Frame retains about 80% orig blue, strong on sides with a plum/gray/brown front strap & spring housing. Grips are fine showing light to moderate wear. Mechanics are fine, strong bore, frosty in grooves. 4-35005 JR139 (3,000-5,000)"
