Beautiful early Swiss Luger with 4-3/4" bbl, DWM scroll on toggle link, German cross & sunburst over chamber, grip safety, & dished toggles. Original SN was "646" which is still visible on inside of grips. This number was changed by the Swiss in 1914 to the current 4-digit number and the "A" added and was then arsenal refinished with a new extractor installed along with miscellaneous small parts. The rear sight "V" was altered to a "U"-shape at that time. Accompanied by an orig Swiss magazine with steel disk insert in wooden base. Also accompanied by an orig Swiss brown leather holster that is marked "O M" with a crossbow in a diamond cartouche on back. Holster has an orig 3-pc shoulder strap with belt loops on back. Inside flap is number "1909". This is a very rare & desirable Swiss Luger in outstanding condition. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching except firing pin with grips numbered as noted. Overall retains about 98% arsenal blue & most of its strong, bright arsenal straw colors, slightly thinned on trigger. Grips are very fine with light to moderate wear mostly on bottom edges with a small chip below thumb safety lever. Grip screws retain virtually all of the fire blue on right side & about 80% on left side. Magazine is extremely fine. Crisp mechanics, brilliant shiny bore. Holster is very fine with light wear & scuffs. Straps are also very fine. 4-36168 JR181 & BS (7,000-10,000)"
