Engraved Commemorative 17th-Century Horn Powder Flask
The translucent horn powder flask, the obverse finely engraved with the portrait of a
17th-Century gentleman, the reverse with a coat-of-arms and date 1634. Edges of flask
sealed with brass rivets. German silver powder charger with coined edge screw-off lid and
swivel charger marked: A Chi Priv/Beetz, Wein. See-through powder charge chamber. German
silver spout with horn ring. Four ring mounts. While dated 1634, this flask was
manufactured in the mid-19th century as a commemorative decorator. Beetz, a well known
Austrian flask maker 1850-60. Size: 10 1/2-inches high.
Condition: Excellent with light wear and age patina overall.
