Rare and Ornately Carved Ivory Tusk Priming Powder Horn [French, probably Dieppe]
The carved ivory tusk, each side with intricately carved hunting scenes featuring
mounted hunters in the act of spearing a stag with another hunter holds the animal by the
antlers. Reverse carved with coat-of-arms and floral scrolls. Carved scale top and bottom
edges. Carved dog head tip. End plug with carved rope border edging an leafy motifs. Two
ivory ring mounts. Length: 6 3/8-inches.
Condition: Excellent with light age patina. No stopper.
