Scarce Silver-Plated Springfield Arms Co. Pocket Model Revolver
Serial no. 5142, .30 rimfire, 5-shot, 3 1/4-inch octagonal barrel with maker and
address marking on top; patent and manufactured for Smith & Wesson marked on cylinder;
blued, with silver-plated brass frame; case-hardened hammer; varnished rosewood grips.
Condition: Excellent. 90% blue, surface patina and pitting, primarily
on cylinder; 85% silver; tracking lines on cylinder; grips fine with crack on right panel
from screw escutcheon to butt.
Note: Specimen is from one of 1,513 of these revolvers turned over to Smith &
Wesson in settlement of an infringement suit against manufacturer.
