Fine Kentucky Percussion Rifle by John Armstrong, Emmitsburg, Maryland
.36 caliber, 43 1/4-inch octagonal rifled barrel with German silver blade-type front
sight. Open rear sight. Top flat with inlaid brass panel reading: John Armstrong.
Percussion lock marked: JA. Set-triggers. Relief-carved tiger maple stock with floral
scrolls and silver inlays with a vacant oval silver wrist escutcheon. Cheek rest with oval
silver escutcheon engraved with a federal eagle. Hardwood ramrod. An excellent Kentucky
rifle.
Condition: Fine to excellent. Barrel and lock with smooth, dark brown
age patina overall. Brass elements with light age patina. Wood excellent, showing light
age and handling wear with several tiny hairline crack repairs on fore-end.
