Rare Inscribed American Percussion Pistol by J.N. Creamer
.44 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with bead-type front sight and silver band at
breech. Steel under-rib. "V" notch rear sight. Engraved tang. Engraved
percussion lock marked: J.N. Creamer. Handsome burl walnut stock with bag-shaped grip,
silver wedge escutcheons and silver wrist escutcheon inscribed: J. Haverty. Horn fore-end
cap. Engraved spur triggerguard. Replacement wooden ramrod with brass tip. A very rare and
desirable American pistol with owner's inscription worthy of further research.
Condition: Good to very good. Steel showing dark age patina with
scattered spots of light pitting near muzzle. Wood very good with light wear and age
patina. Fore-end cap with chip to top of left side. Mechanically excellent.
Note: J. N. Creamer, [1830-1850], possibly the son or younger brother of B. Creamer (?)
1800, Philadelphia, Pa. Maker of Kentucky percussion rifles and duelling pistols.
