12 Gauge J.P. Sauer Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun made for Von Lengerke & Detmold
Serial no. 87916. 12 gauge. 30 inch barrels marked: Von Lengerke & Detmold, New
York / The Knockabout Gun. Matted concave rib with doll's head. Case-hardened sidelock
action marked:Von Lengerke & Detmold, U. S. Agents, New York with border engraving and
foliate scroll details. Extractor. Automatic safety. Disc-set strikers. Checkered
half-pistolgrip stock of figured walnut. Later hard rubber buttplate with 1/4 inch
extension. Checkered splinter fore-end with Deeley-Edge style release.
Condition: Fine. Barrels show 90-95% bluing. Bright bores. Action
shows silver patina with some very faint color. Safety is very stiff and needs attention.
Action/barrels show looseness. Refinished wood shows older handling marks. Checkering
shows some impressions.
