Rare and Fine American Halfstock Single Shot Percussion Target Rifle by Klepzig, San
Francisco
.50 caliber, 6-groove rifling. 33 1/8-inch heavy octagonal barrel with half-inch
rebated muzzle, the face stamped 44. Steel under-rib. Dove-tailed blade type front sight.
Fixed elevation rear sight. Left flat of barrel stamped: Klepzig/San Francisco. Left side
of barrel with cryptic stampings. Scroll-engraved breech. Lock marked: Klepzig. Double
set-triggers. Checkered walnut stock with steel mountings and patchbox. Cheek rest
present. German silver wedge escutcheons. Narrow vacant German silver oval escutcheon on
bottom of buttstock.Crescent buttplate. Wooden ramrod with brass tip.
Condition: Fine. Metal showing grey-brown age patina with a few spots
of fine pitting. Wood with minor wear and marks. Wedge escutcheons with minor dents. Bore
good. Action very good.
