Rare and Exceptional U.S. Springfield Alteration of Spencer Model 1865 Cavalry Carbine
to Infantry Rifle
Serial no. 24919, .50 caliber rimfire, 32 1/2-inch barrel with pedestal front sight and
ladder-type rear sight. Blued finish. Barrel marked at breech: 24919. Two case-hardened
barrel bands. Saddle-ring and bar. Case-hardened frame, hammer, lever and buttplate.
"M" and "P" inspector stamps. Stabler cut-off. Standard walnut stocks
with ESA cartouche. Steel ramrod. Sling mounts.
Condition: Excellent to mint. Retaining approximately 85-90% finish
with minor wear to relief edges. Faded case-hardening with some areas of color remaining.
Wood very good with minor hairline crack in buttstock and minor dents and bruises. Bright
bore.
