Rare U.S. Springfield Altered Sharps Model 1870, First Type, Breechloading Rifle
Serial no. C34616, .50-70 caliber, 35 1/2-inch polished steel barrel with two barrel
bands. Ladder-type rear sight. Barrel numbered at breech: 34616. Case-hardened
breechblock, hammer, frame, lever and buttplate. Buttplate marked: U.S. Walnut stocks with
ESA cartouche. Sling mounts [see Flayderman 5F-036].
Condition: Excellent as configured. Bright metal with no evidence of
pitting. Some vibrant case-hardening remaining. Wood with light wear and minor marks.
Note: Only 700 of this model were manufactured.
