Rare J. Henry Flintlock Navy Boarding Pistol of 1812
.58 caliber smoothbore, 10 3/8-inch pin-fastened round barrel, P sunken mark on breech;
pointed terminus lock with J. HENRY marking forward of hammer; brass mountings; steel with
browned finish; walnut stock and hickory ramrod. Brass belt hook secured by rear sideplate
screw and secondary screw into stock. N stamped on internal parts.
Condition: Very good. Brown patina to steel parts, with light
pitting, nicks; stock with old cleaning, cracks, minor chipping; repair where ramrod
enters stock; replacement hammer and ramrod.
Note: Similar pistol on page 189 of Smith and Bitter book on U.S. martial pistols.
