Rare U.S. Hall Model 1842 Breechloading Percussion Carbine
Unserialized. .52 caliber smoothbore. Single-shot. 21-inch round barrel with open
sights and two brass barrel bands. Saddle ring and 8 1/2-inch bar. Breechblock marked: H
Ferry/U.S./1842 [marred]. "Fishtail" lever. Standard walnut stock with brass
mountings, Trumpet-shaped steel ramrod,
Condition: Fine for this model. Steel showing grey patina and
scattered light pitting overall. Hammer marks present on breechblock. Breechblock
retaining traces of case-hardening. Wood excellent with minor dents and blemishes.
Note: This was the last Hall carbine made at Harpers Ferry. approximately 1000 were
manufactured. All were sent to the 1st U.S. Dragoons for service in the Western campaign.
