Rare James Warner Solid Frame Revolving Rifle, c. 1850
Serial no. 249, .40 caliber, 26-inch octagonal barrel with dovetailed front sight and
long elevation type rear sight. Loading lever threaded at end secured by end of wooden
ramrod. Topstrap marked: James Warner, Springfield, Mass. Manually revolving cylinder
operated by release lever forward of regular trigger. Spur-type triggerguard. Varnished
walnut stock with steel furniture. Crescent butt [see Flayderman 15-027].
Condition: Fine for this model. Metal with dark age patina and
scattered light pitting. Wood very good with light wear and patina.
Note: Only 300-350 of this particular model were manufactured.
