Lot 19 Detail
U.S. Martially Marked Model 1813 Flintlock Pistol by Simeon North
.75 caliber smoothbore, 9 1/8-inch round barrel, with P/US on breech; lock with S.
NORTH over American eagle motif with U and S either side over MIDLN CON. markings; steel
mountings, brass flashpan; blue and case-hardened lock; oil-finished walnut stock with
U.S. Ordnance inspector cartouche, with AV above, on left side. HHK over touch hole on
barrel breech.
Condition: Good to very good. Pitting and gray and brown patina, most
pronounced on barrel and band; sear and sear spring old replacements, resulting in gouging
the opening in the stock at rear of lockplate, leaving tip of sear visible; top jaw and
screw, main spring and ramrod replacements; repair to stock where ramrod channel had been
exposed.
Note: Double necked barrel band, with grooves on either side of both necks; brass blade
front sight atop front neck, as typical of the Model 1816 North band; but this band is
original to this pistol, and will not go on the 1816 North. Pistol c. 1813-1814.
