U.S. Martially Marked Harpers Ferry Model 1805 Flintlock Pistol, Dated 1806
.54 caliber smoothbore, 10 1/18-inch round barrel; lock with American eagle and shield
over US forward of hammer; HARPERS/FERRY/1806 at tail of lock; barrel breech with markings
in sunken ovals almost entirely removed, US and P still partially visible; walnut stock
with inspector markings on left side opposite lock, V and apparently CW all within trefoil
cartouche; brass mounts; hickory ramrod with swelled tip.
Condition: Very good. Gray and brown patina to steel with pitting,
primarily on barrel; now worn front sight installed, as has been oval thumb piece
escutcheon on stock; replacement ramrod; stock with nicks, marks and wear; crack through
grip and minor wood repairs at front and back of lock. Touch-hole corroded.
Note: Barrel number had been of three digits, the first being 1, and the third 6. Early
eagle marking on lock, with raised, straight beak, indicating that number will be under
133.
