Remington Revolving Percussion Rifle with Low Serial Number and NEW MODEL Barrel
Marking
Serial no. 18, .36 caliber, 6 shot, 24-inch part round, part octagon barrel with maker,
address, patent date and NEW MODEL markings on top of breech; pivoting and adjustable rear
sight dovetailed at breech; German silver blade on steel base dovetailed at muzzle; blued
finish, with case-hardened frame, hammer and loading lever; silver-plated brass spur
triggerguard, buttplate and toeplate. Varnished walnut stock with handsome grain and
finish.
Condition: Excellent. 75% blue on barrel, 80% on cylinder, latter
with tracking lines; some flaking and turning of brown; 85% case-hardening, light fading;
98% silver-plating. 100% varnish, minor storage marks.
Note: Manufactured in 1866.
