Scarce and Fine Type I Flat Lock Percussion Pistol by A.H. Waters & Co.
.54 caliber, smoothbore 8 1/2-inch round and unmarked barrel; steel mountings; eagle
head over A.H. WATERS & CO./MILBURY MASS on lockplate forward of hammer; nipple
bolster on top of barrel at breech. No inspector cartouche markings on oil-finished walnut
stock; B inspector letter mark on forward triggerguard tang and on sideplate. Lock has
round curve at rear. No rear sight.
Condition: Fine. Gray patina; marks on steel and stock; light
pitting, more pronounced around ramrod swivel and spots on barrel; flaws in metal at right
side of muzzle. Stock with old varnish; dents, nicks light cracks, some cleaning.
