Rare U.S. Martially Marked Third Type Flat Lock A.H. Waters & Co. Percussion
Pistol
.54 caliber, rifled 8 1/2-inch round barrel; steel mountings; with brarss sideplate,
brass trigger and brass triggerguard; U.S./JM/P at barrel breech; eagle head over A.H.
WATERS & Co/MILBURY MASS/1849 on lockplate forward of hammer; E stamped on nipple
bolster; and on brass triggerguard front tang. No inspector cartouche markings on
oil-finished walnut stock. Lock comes to sharp point at rear. Made without rear sight.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina, pitting to steel; mellow patina to
triggerguard; markings fine. Stock with nicks, mars and dents. Mechanism needs adjustment;
hammer will not stay at full cock.
