Rare Model 1842 Percussion Navy Pistol by Henry Deringer, with Rifled Barrel
.54 caliber rifled, 6-inch round barrel, lock marked US/DERINGER/PHILADELA; browned
barrel with case-hardened tang; case-hardened lock; brass mountings; varnished walnut
stock. Fitted with rear sight.
Condition: Excellent, with 95% browning on barrel; 85%
case-hardening, fading. Light wear to stock.
Note: This type was historically and technically important as the first handgun
produced for the U.S. government having rifled barrels, even though this particular
specimen was not purchased by U.S. Limited production.
